Sugar overload
Anyway, a guy at work was telling me about this microwave fish that you cook in it's plastic pouch last week and I had to get some this weekend. It's put out by Starkist but darned if I can find it on their website. I got thai flavored and and 130 per filet it's delish and low in calories. Last night I had it over some baby spinach and yuummmmm!
Today's food
B - McDonalds egg mcmuffin with no egg. No, the no egg bit wasn't my choice. I pulled away from the drive thru and my sandwich was english muffin, cheese and canadian bacon but no egg. I didn't have time to even turn around. Ah well.
L - chicken breast lunch meat on 2 slices extra fiber whole wheat bread, 100 cal cocoa coated almonds
Snack - small banana
Dinner - Healthy choice chicken parmagiana meal that included broccoli and an apple dessert. And the aforementioned devil cookie treat
Exercise - nada, though I pledge to try to walk tomorrow night
Life - my poor baby is sick :( Both he and my 6 yr old have had a nasty cough. Adan had a dr's appt for shots today and ended up going for that and the cough. The doctor seems to think it's just a yucky cold and told me to give him a tiny dose of benadryl for the snotty nose and supposedly to help the cough. I now have a baby with 3 shots, cough and snot. I feel awful for him. I wish that I hadn't gone ahead with the shots but the doctor said he should be okay.
Soccer was this past Saturday again, my 8 yr old's team won again and my 6 yr old's team didn't win but he got two goals :) My oldest, Logan, had a school game yesterday and they won as well. He did an awesome job in goal and even had a dad from the other team complimenting him! My daughter has her first highschool dance this Saturday(homecoming). We got her dress the other day now we're on a quest for the perfect shoes and jewelery. She was going to wear black converse with it but the invitation explicitly says no tennis shoes. I think she could get away with it but I would hate for her to be turned away. She's freaking at the possibility of heels because she's 5'6 or so but I assured her that she'd be fine.
And lastly, I finally got my book The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. I'm about halfway through and love it so far.
Until the next time

Weight loss
This week has been boring food wise. I grabbed what I thought was my organic spring salad mix that I've been getting but instead grabbed herb salad. It has baby spinach in it which is great, some dill, some cilantro I think but the thing in there that's just killing me flavor wise is the pine. Blech. I ate some the other day with chicken breast over it and it was okay but I just tried to eat some with a shredded Morningstar Farms veggie burger over it and just ended up picking out the burger along with the avocado and olives that I added to it.
Oh, on Monday I made the most delicious spaghetti! I can't remember the brand but will definitely share next time that I get it (definitely will again) but this awesome organic spinach pasta, wow. I got home that evening and fully intended to make chicken and rice with some yellow rice and chicken breasts but couldn't find the danged rice. So I grabbed the pasta, some spaghetti sauce that I had and put it together with the chicken. Adan loooooooved the pasta! The rest of the week has been primarily frozen meals, turkey and avocado on whole wheat sandwiches and cereal with vanilla or chocolate almond milk and some type of fruit for breakfast. A friend of mine was telling me that there's a new whole grain rice crispies that are a lot bigger in size than regular rice crispies but obviously more healthy and only 90 cals a serving. I'm trying to use up my Cascadian Farms organic cereal first which is really, really good but it's something like 210 or so calories per serving. As for the fruit I've been putting on my cereal one day it was strawberries, a couple days raspberries. I was going to put some banana on it this morning but they've disappeared. As long as my kids are eating healthy I suppose I can forgive them ;) I did make myself and the kids scrambled eggs (mine egg whites) and turkey bacon the other morning and since I was running late I slapped mine in a small tortilla and ate it on the way to work. On to todays food (finally right?)
b - Cascadian Farms granola cereal with vanilla almond milk and raspberries (the kiddles had biscuits and gravy)
Snack - 100 cal cocoa roasted almonds
L - Bumblebee tuna thai chili tuna on crackers and some collard greens
Snack - string cheese and 100 cal cocoa roasted almonds
D - previously mentioned Morningstar farms veggie burger, green olives, avocado and Campbell's lite italian veggie soup
Snack - Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry filling
Exercise - none today, my 6 yr old was home sick with a cough and my daughter ended up calling me from school around 9 today with a headache. I in turn sat on my lazy rear and read.
I'm apprehensive about zumba tomorrow night because there's supposed to be a new instructor. The one that's been there has been perfect, not militant but not overly chipper either. I guess I'll just have to see tomorrow how I like her.
Soccer season has started here for the kids and I love it! I mean in the upwards of 90 degree heat you're sweating like a pig and cooking in the sun but it's great none the less. My 6 yr olds team lost, my 8 yr olds team won by something like 15 to 1. I'm so proud of him, he's soooooo good. I think he scored 6-7 of those goals himself. The whole team is really good. My 12 yr old's competitive team had a scrimmage on Sunday. They won the first game and lost the second. Thankfully the 2nd team is a division above because they kicked their hineys ;) Yesterday he had a game with his school team and they won as well. He's a goalie for his competitive team but on his school team while he plays in goal he gets some field time as well which we both like. He played tough yesterday :)
If I don't blog tomorrow, I hope that all has a good weekend!

Actually ate decently!
B - 1 serving Kashi Go lean cereal with fresh strawberries cut up in it
L - turkey sandwich on extra fiber whole wheat bread with banana peppers and green olives, 1/2 serving dark chocolate covered raisins
Snack - 100 cal pack of cocoa coated almonds
D - Kashi Mayan harvest meal, 1 serving ghirardelli chocolate with raspberry, string cheese
Snack - maybe popcorn, not sure yet
Exercise - yes my friends, you read that right, I exercise again :) 45 minutes at home stuff, abs, legs, arse, arms, etc.
Life - I'm about 3/4 of the way done with Mr Darcy Vampyre and like it now. I think that the author is a little obvious with her foreshadowing but overall, it's pretty good. My husband sent flowers to work for my birthday yesterday! Shocking ;) He never has so it was a nice surprise. They're beautiful and smell wonderful. We went to dinner at a local steakhouse last night and it just so happens on Wednesdays that their bottles of wine are half off. I got a 20 bottle for 10 bucks and it was goooood. I love a good merlot. I went through almost half of it at dinner, whoopsy. Husband doesn't drink wine so the remainder of the bottle came home with me and I forsee breaking it out this weekend. I'm headed to zumba again tomorrow night and looking forward to it.

Way too long
I'll start with food highlights
A christmas or two ago I ordered my husband a gift basket of cajun food products. We had one remaining item, and no it wasn't expired, jumbalaya mix. I finally got it out and made it with shrimp and turkey sausage over brown rice this weekend and it was delish! I got him the gift from Cajun Grocer. I orginally found them when I was looking to buy a turducken, which wasn't half bad by the way. I had leftover jumbalaya for dinner last night but rather than rice added greens to it and it was dare I say even more delish. On to todays foods
B - McDonald's egg mcmuffin. I was originally going to go for a nonfat latte and eat some Kashi granola cereal with strawberries at home but the mcmuffin was calling my name. In retrospect I wish I had held out for the cereal but ah well.
L - I met my mom for lunch at Beef O' Bradys. She usually takes me to lunch on my birthday but my birthday is tomorrow and I'm working during the day so there you go. I had a blackened fish sandwich and fries. Shouldn't have eaten the fries but their curly fries are so darned good :)
D - Lean Cuisine asian potstickers, banana
Snack - Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry filling
Exercise -
I've gone to Zumba for the past 2 fridays and just love it. I found out she's also offering the class on Monday evenings so if I can swing it I'd like to go to that one as well. With doing zumba it's really gotten me into the groove of exercising again. Both Sunday and last night I walked 3 miles and today did 45 min. of legs, abs, arms, etc.
Weight loss -
I'm now 8 lbs away from my original goal that I set to be at on September 16th. I knew 2/3 months ago that there just wasn't any way that I'd reach it but being so close has definitely given me that added fire I need to get there as soon as I can.
Life - I'll be 33 tomorrow. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I've gotten into a really good routine with the Oil of Olay Regenerist serum which I really like by the way but I figured as a birthday gift to myself that I should go out and buy an arsenal of "good god don't let me look old" stuff. I went to CVS because while I'm willing to put out a bit of money I certainly am not going to nor am able to break the bank for it. I was headed for the Olay section when I walked past a display of cool looking stuff. Vickery and Clarke Natural Apothecary products. They had a bunch of really cool stuff (check out the link) for really awesome prices so I thought, oh why not. I'll have to report back in a few weeks with a review but for now I have the vitamin A&E face moisturizer, eye cream and anti-aging lip treatment. We'll see. I read an article in a recent issue of Allure about how you can pretty much slap as much stuff like that on your face as possible and not to worry about it causing zits and such. It also said to layer with the thinnest layer of product on bottom working your way up to the thickest for maximum penetration. I can't find the damn magazine to quote what exactly they said but regardless, I'm painting on as much stuff as I can in my war against wrinkles ;)
I read a really good book this weekend The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner. My only regret is that I read it so fast it was over with. It's historical fiction based on Queen Juana, often referred to as Juana the crazy or Juana la loca, daughter of queen Isabelle and King Ferdinand of Spain. She was also sister to Catherine of Aragon, 1st wife if King Henry the VIII. I just adore this time period. I've started a new book, Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange. It's supposed to be a follow up to Pride and Prejudice and I'm only into the first couple of chapters or so so there jury is still out on how I feel about it. I adore Pride and Prejudice so much that I'm finding it difficult to really get into this one. I tried reading Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife a few years ago (another contemporary follow up) but after several attempts just couldn't get into it. And lastly, I saw a cute movie today, New in Town, starring Renee Zellweger. It wasn't oscar worthy by any means but a fun movie none the less.
And lastly, I'm officially attempting to be an active twitter user, my username on there is amyms5 if you're so inclined to look for me ;)
I'll try to blog to my so that I can be a total douche and wish myself a happy birthday.
Until then

Tuesday dummy
The weekend was good. Zumba on Friday night was an absolute blast and I will definitely be returning this week. I sweated my arse off. There were only 8 of us in the class so it was nice being with a small group of people.
Saturday was all about relaxing, ended up with only babe and my daughter home so when babe took a nap my husband layed down with him and Anna and I lounged in the pool for a couple of hours. I know that sun isn't good for your skin but I feel like I look better with a tan so, there ;) Saturday night we went bowling with my son's soccer team and wow do I ever suck. We bowled two games and needless to say I got the lowest score both times. Ah well, it was fun regardless. A friend of mine has been working out of town but flew in for the weekend and that brat has lost 15 pounds in the two or so months that he's been gone simply by eating differently. Must be nice to have weight fall off so easily :) Sunday was a lazy day and yesterday we went to a humongous flea market and walked around in the blazing heat for several hours.
On to today~
B - Odwalla chocolate soy protein shake
L - Taco Bell fresco chicken soft taco and fresco chicken burrito
Snack - 1 wedge laughing cow cheese and 1/2 of an Arnold's sandwich thin
D - Lean Cuisine steak and broccoli, string cheese, 1 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate w/raspberry
Snack - banana
I do not feel good one litte bit. My mom had a flu type thing going on and I'm afraid that she passed it on to me. I'm hoping that I feel better tomorrow because I really need to be at work.
hoping that I feel better

Negligence
Food
Breakfast - 2 egg whites and 2 slices turkey bacon on an Arnolds sandwich thin. These suckers are perfect for sandwiches and I heart the lady at work who told me about them. Check them out!
Lunch - pb&j with sugar free raspberry preserves on, you guessed it: Arnold's sandwich thin. Also had half of a large banana
Snack - 1 wedge laughing cow cheese on half a sandwich thin. And no, it's not my new every meal thing, it's just that I was out of my regular crackers that I eat with my laughing cow cheese. Also had rasberry flavored FruitaBu fruit thin.
Dinner - 2 Morning Star spicy black bean burger pattys with dijon mustard and raw spinach on top as well as vegan miso ramen noodles. I can't remember the brand but the soup was really good! 1 serving Ghirardelli dark choc. with raspberry
Snack - frozen grapes and a few strawberries. Stupid strawberries and watermelon. I suppose they're not in season because they're going bad on me so quickly. My 8 yr old loves to take watermelon in his lunch and I bought him some Monday and it was already yuck this morning. I might have some popcorn tonight too if I'm hungry in a bit.
Edit! I made the popcorn but I'm also adding in some green olives. I loves olives of all kinds. I was reading an article in Allure magazine yesterday and how eating foods high in antioxidants is good for your skin. I googled a list of fruits and veggies high in them and olives rank pretty darn high. I happen to have a jar of green ones here at work so, voila!
Exercise - no, none today but I drove past the local gymnastics place and they're offering Zumba classes on Friday nights! I've been wanting to try it out and for only 5 bucks a class it's perfect. If you haven't heard of Zumba here's a copy and paste from their site describing it (zumba.com). ~ "Zumba® fuses hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of caloric-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!
The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba®!"
Anyway, I'm excited about it, my friend is going too and I've talked my daughter into going :) I'll have to report back on it.
I am soooooo looking forward to this 3 day weekend. I forsee mega pool time in my future. I don't think I'll have a chance to blog tomorrow, so wishing everyone an awesome and safe Labor Day weekend!!
Eta: one more thing :) If you'll look to the right you'll see I now belong to the foodie blogroll, an awesome group of tonnnns up tonnnnns of food blogs. Check them out!

Chicken, chicken, chicken (and no bananas)
B - I was so craving my pancakes with sugar free syrup, peanut butter and bananas. Got the pancakes made, syrup and peanut butter out and grabbed a knife to slice up a banana. Some delightful person left the freaking stems of the banana bunch but ate all of the bananas. Grrr. I don't mind my kids eating healthy things but man I was craving that. Anywho, ate it sans the bananas and it was still good :)
L - leftover smoked chicken breast from the weekend with baby spinach and mixed spring greens, avocado, tomato, banana peppers (craptacular pic but maybe you get the idea). Also had a few slices of my homemade sweet garlic pickles, good gosh those are good.
Snack - whole grain wheat thins and a wedge of laughing cow cheeseDinner - 1 serving of 3 cheese tortellini(no clue if I spelled that right) with chicken breast, spinach and some green olives thrown in. Good gracious how I love green olives, any olives for that matter, Ghirardelli dark choc. with raspberry filling, some frozen grapes
Snack - may have some popcorn, may not
Today was boring :) I didn't go look for more of my books but found a Janet Evanovich book that my sil gave my daughter to read. Uck. The writing is painstakingly simple in my humblest of opinions. I got through 5 or 6 pages and quit. I am now down to 4 pairs of pants that I can wear to work. While it's wonderful that the others are too big I hate buying new pants, not that I don't like shopping but more so because I'd like to lose down another size at least and hate to spend the money. I think I'll hit Goodwill on Friday and see if I can find anything decent.

Woohoo, 2 days on a row!
B - 1 egg white and 1 whole egg scrambled with salt and red pepper flakes along with 2 slices of turkey bacon on a small flour tortilla
L - dh called and invited me to join him for lunch over in the town he works in. I've never been there before but we went to ABC Pizza and it was pretty good. I don't know if it's a franchise or a small business, it was hopping regardless. He convinced me that I should get the salad/sub combo. The description said small salad and grinder. I chose the turkey grinder. The salad was by no means small and really could have been a meal in itself. I was an oval dinner plate piled (no exageration) at least 4 inches high with iceberg lettuce and topped with ham, feta cheese, tomato, banana pepper and olives. The dressing must have been a house dressing of some sort, sorta a creamy italian. Anyway, I ended up eating half of the salad which was really good and half of the grinder (slice of turkey and cheese on a hoagie heated).
Snack - banana
D - the other half of my lunch with some baby spinach thrown in for some heartier leafy greens :), 1 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry filling
Snack - I really wasn't hungry so not sure why I ate, maybe boredom?, but a bag of light butter popcorn.
I finished The Other Boleyn Girl today and even though I've already read it, seen the movie and knew the end of the story regardless, I could not put it down. Phillipa Gregory really does a beautiful job of telling a story and captivating her reader. I've read all of her books on Henry VIII's wives. I have them *somewhere* in storage and now want to go dig out some more tomorrow to re-read them. I find the whole Tudor period fascinating and have been reading biographies of all of the major players in that era. I would love to find some sort of class on it.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough :)
See ya tomorrow!

Oh blogger where art thou?
Today however was the first day of school and 4 out of 5 kids were shipped off this morning to their respective classes with their shiny new backpacks, cool new shoes and a mix of excitement and nervousness. My daughter had her first day of highschool today which is bittersweet for me. It seems like just yesterday that I was freaking out about her starting middle school (3 yrs ago) and now look, she's already past that and on to highschool. What does that mean to me? In 4 incredibly short years my baby will be headed off to college. Of course the same year that my oldest baby heads off to college my youngest babe will start kindergarten and so it will begin again, but still... To me, highschool signals that we're nearing the end of Bekah's childhood. They all had a good day with new and old friends, navigating their classrooms and meeting new teachers. Myself and Adan on the other hand rejoiced in having some semblance of calm and quiet around the house. With the bluster of having all 5 home for the last 3 or so months I realized today that I've had precious little time to really play and interact with my little guy. He is just the sweetest thing ever. We played cars, blocks, read and glory of all glories we even napped together, ahhhhhh :) I took a crappy cell phone pic of the 3 boys this morning before school but will have to get a better pic tomorrow with my camera. I'll have to get a picture of Bek after school since she leaves before daylight.
On to food~
B - celebratory crappy fast food breakfast of Wendy's bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and hashbrown
L - Campbells light veggie italian soup
Snack - 1 serving wheat thins with 1 wedge laughing cow cheese
D - Lean Cuisine, pasta with chicken and veggies I will however not by it again because it was full of peas and I cannot stand them, ghirardelli raspberry filled dark chocolate
Snack - 1 cup frozen grapes
Exercise - none however I do plan to strap on my shocks and hit the walking trail tomorrow after dropping the kids of at school
I really don't remember if I've talked about this recently so I apologize if I'm repeating, but I'm nearing my goal that I set for myself date wise for weight loss. I wanted to be at goal on my birthday September 16th. I'm now 9 lbs away. I know that there's no way I'll lose 9 lbs in 3 or so weeks. However, I see how far I've come and I'm truly happy. Yes, I still want to reach that initial goal and likely go 10 lbs beyond it but to say that for my official 1st goal that I have less 10 lbs to lose is a pretty cool thing. I've lost 44lbs and am damned proud of myself. I now hope to reach my final goal which is 19 lbs from now by Christmas. What an awesome Christmas present to give myself, no? I think it's attainable. I'm figuring at 1.5 lbs per week that's around 27 lbs so surely I can do 19 lbs. We shall see. Oh, I've reread Memoirs of a Geisha over the last week and am now rereading The Other Boleyn Girl. I adore both books and would recommend them to anyone. Any book that involves some history really intrigues me. Not to mention that it just reaffirms my desire to travel and see all of the places that I read about.
Anyway, I promise to be more attentive to dearest blog and my millions of readers ;)
Til the morrow...

TGIF!
Food
B - small glazed donut (hey, we hit the road early for school clothes shopping)
L - turkey sandwich with fries at Chilis. By the way, this just goes to show that what you think may be "healthy" isn't. That damn turkey sandwich alone was 900something calories.
D - 2 Morningstar burgers over 3 cups spinach
Exercise - shopping?
First a rant~ why, why, why do stores begin to stock winter clothing in Florida in August? Seriously, why???!!! Had a coupon for Osh Kosh B'gosh and I couldn't even spend the 50 there to take advantage of it. I guess I could have bought for 6 months ahead when it finally gets cold here but I needed school clothes for now. Old Navy? no shorts for boys. Gap? no shorts for boys. I managed to find my 12 yr old one pair of shorts on a sale rack and Aeropostale. WTF??!!
Now, on to wayyyy better news. I, Amy, purchased and am currently wearing a pair of sized 10 pants. Yes, you read that right, 10's. Yay me! 10 was/is my goal size as I know that I look decent in 10's. I would eventually like to get to at least an 8 but I was ecstatic to get these suckers on. The jeans I wore out today to shop were tight, like skin tight, a few months ago and I saw myself in them in the changing room mirror today and I looked outright dumpy they were so baggy on me. :) Anyway, we hit some pretty good sales today, the kids are shoed, backpacked and minus the boys needing another couple of pairs of shorts each, we are all set except for school supplies.
Hope that everyone has a marvelous weekend!

No idea for a title

I missed a few days blogging, so shoot me.
Yesterday was my daughter's 14th birthday! I feel sooooo old. It was a good day and on the food front, while I ate like crap I still stayed within calorie limits.
Here's my "little" girl. This is the only pic that I have available of her at the moment. I did an actual mini shoot with her yesterday but haven't had a chance to even load them to the computer yet.

Naked!

Snack - Wings of Nature almond rasin bar. It was my first time eating this and it was pretty good. To be honest it looked like bird seed and while it's nothing I fell head over heels for I would definitely eat it again.
D- Michelina's meatloaf and potatoes, 1 serving Green and Black organic dark chocolate . I was really craving a veggie to eat with the meat and taters but didn't have anything with me.
Snack - 1 serving Naked blue machine (see this is where the title comes in). It was my first time having it as well and it was pretty good, a bit overwhelming. By overwhelming I mean really filling and strong tasting but again, good. Also had some popcorn but now I feel stuffed, blech.
No exercise today. I really can't wait to frigging move so I have a place to at least walk again. I hate this.
I did however see 2 pretty good movies today. Confessions of a Shopaholic (loooove Isla Fisher) and Coraline. If you haven't seen Coraline yet I will suggest that if you are going to watch it with your kids that kids who get frightened easily might not enjoy it. The end can be seen as fairly scary for a child.
See ya tomorrow!

Happy birthday Christian!!

Not the best pic of him but there's my sweet Christian who is now offically 8 years old :)
We went and visited my grandma and she had made a buttload of homemade brownies and cupcakes for him/us. We went and got pizza for lunch, went to to grocery to buy a venus flytrap for him that he wanted and went home and swam. It was a good day. He got a scooter from me and I think my husband is taking him to a play place called Fun Spot on Saturday.
On to food~
B - 1 scrambled egg with 2 slices turkey bacon a a small flour tortilla
L - thin crust pizza with bacon, black olives, banana peppers and green peppers
Snack - reduced fat colby cheese stick
D - Subway club with baby spinach, olives onions and banana peppers, jalapeno chips and an apple pie flavored Lara bar
Snack - crackers with 1 wedge laughing cow cheese and maybe some pineapple
Exercise - swam around in the pool today but had baby with me so not much in the way of exercise. I did run in the water while holding baby from one side to the other for about 8 minutes. Doesn't sound like much but my legs were killing me. I'm sure that water resistance had something to do with that. Also brought my 5 pound weight to work and did about 15 minutes arm work with that and am doing other things throughout the evening such as leg lifts, lunges and such.
I found a very reasonably priced home for rent near where we were living that I'm going to look at tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that it's okay and we get it.
I mentioned in the last day or so emails that I get from Fitness and I got another great one today. Here's the link to tons of healthy, low cal snacks.
Also, several years ago I bought that face oil blotter papers from Bath and Body Works and really liked them. It has occured to me before but I just remembered it again today that as far as I can tell, those paper liners that they provide in public restrooms are essentially the same thing. So here's my frugal tip for the day ~ liberate a toilet liner and cut or tear it up into the right sized pieces (approx. 4x2 inches) and voila, free face blotters :)
Adios!

Done, done, done!

Food
B - 2 small pancakes (170 cals), with 1 serving sugar free syrup (25 cals), 1/2 banana (53 cals) and a smear of peanut butter (50 cals). Soooo yum, seriously.
(and no, I don't normally use disposable plates and such, just no room in this kitchen)
L - spring mix lettuce (12 cals) with 1 serving turkey breast (50 cals), 1 tbs salsa verde (11 cals), bit of cheese (40 cals), some avocado (50 cals), onion and tomato
Snack - pecan pie flavored Lara bar (200 cals)
D - Amy's organic tamale verde black bean with rice (looooooove it) (330 cals), 1/3 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate (69 cals)
Snack - small plum (30 cals), Odwalla chocolate protein soymilk protein drink (2 servings is 340 cals) I've never drank it before but it's pretty good. A lady I work with has been drinking it and was praising it so I thought I'd give it a go. I think she drinks the ones that are more fruity but while I love a smoothie I'm not the biggest fan of something like a strawberry banana juice.
Exercise - nada, no pool, no nothin'
Today is a not good day. I really can't think of a better way to describe it. 6 years ago today my little brother, 10 yrs old, was hit and killed by a city bus. It was at this time 6 yrs ago that I was pacing the halls of a hospital praying for some type of miracle, for God to take me instead, just something. Instead, my brother Clint passed away some time after midnight on the 6th. His death is remembered by us, on his tombstone etc. as the 5th because one, he really did leave us on the 5th and was simply removed from life support on the 6th but secondly because the 6th is the birthday of my son Christian. Thankfully Christian was just 2 at the time and didn't realize that dark cloud that hung over his birthday that day and to be quite honest that still hangs over it a bit now. At that age he worshiped Clint and still talks about him, mainly from hearing us keeping his memory alive. Some day I will talk to Christian more about what also happened on his birthday but I'm honestly going to put that off as long as possible. Clint's death itself obviously changed our lives forever but also changed family relationships. Without going into detail, there was a rift caused surrounding the death and while I mourn the loss of my sweet, spoiled, smart, mischievious, loving brother I also mourn the loss of the family dynamics as I knew them. It sucks, truly. We all have guilt to a certain degree regarding it. Myself and my husband took our family to Disney that day and my husband and I have often said "if we had just taken him with us". I don't know whether it works or not, but I pray every night that Clint be told that I said hi and that I'm thinking of him. I've made it through fine today and now I'm crying, ugh. I'll end it now and try now to look like a sobbing mess before a coworker walks through ;)

Head explosion
B - 2 egg whites on an english muffin
L - turkey sandwich with swiss cheese and avocado, Campbell's select harvest light italian veggie soup
D - Amy's organic veggie shepherd's pie (my 1st time eating it and it was really good but not quite filling enough for my biggest meal of the day), apple pie flavored Lara bar, 1 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry filling
Snack - peach and popcorn
If you've never eat any of Amy's frozen meals, run to your nearest grocery and check them out. Organic, natural, easy peasy and yummm. I've yet to eat anything by the brand that didn't taste good.
My math final is tomorrow and I feel as if my head might explode, implode, whatever the word is. Agh!! Thankfully my darling sister the math teacher has helped me study some so honestly at this point I'll settle for a crappy C on it. I'm over it. I failed to mention yesterday that I've discovered new wrinkles, yuck. I don't think I've mentioned on this blog my absolute fear of getting, rather, looking old. It totally icks me out. Since we've been in the pool every day for 5 days now I've obviously gotten a bit of sun. I suppose I squint in the sun because you can see lines where not as much sun has gotten in the crows feet area. Super yuck. I hit CVS yesterday and not wanting to spend complete ass loads of money, I settled for Oil of Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum. What I've noticed more about my skin lately than anything is that it looks a bit rough. This serum has amino-peptides that are supposed to help regenerate damaged skin. Not exactly the answer to wrinkles but a step in the right direction. If anyone has any suggestions for great skin care/face care products please share. I'm in panic mode. Yes, I realize that I'm only 32 but I feel like in the next 10 yrs is when all hell will break loose. My other sister in law (husband's brother's wife) came over with her two kids today to swim and we were talking about pool exercising. I mentioned that I had attempted a little today but really needed to google to find some great exercises to do. And, no lie, I opened up my email this afternoon and what was there but an email from Fitness Magazine with a link to a pool workout, two actually. First one is Pool Workout and the second one is a Swim Routine . I'm excited to try both! I'm now going to go bury my math worries in popcorn and hope that it gets all better.
til tomorrow

Bathing suit!!???
Weekend recap time ~
Saturday morning I had a photoshoot with an old school friend and her family. So great to see her! After did a bit more unpacking and cleaning then hit the pool. My darling sister in law made a late lunch for us of steak, baked beans, potato salad and corn on the cob. Yummm! For dinner we were heading out to see if we could find a futon but lost energy quickly and just went to dinner instead. We (dh, myself, daughter, baby and I) ended up at Hooters. You may insert obligatory eye roll here. For what it's worth I actually like their food so enduring the shorty shorts and ridiculously ugly scrunch socks is okay. I got a grilled fish sandwich that I shared with babe and hubby got a bucket of steamed oysters. I think I at 4 or so of them. I like them way better raw but he won't have anything to do with raw oysters. We headed home afterward and crashed. As for Sunday we ended up at McD's for breakfast. Yes, I know we've eaten ridiculous amounts of crap food but the kitchen still wasn't in order at this point and well, we get sick of sitting around that tiny place and staring at each other. We headed out for a grocery trip after breakfast. Lunch was sandwiches and mine particulary was a turkey sandwich with avocado, yummmm! We went swimming again in the afternoon and then I had to tackle the kitchen so that I could make dinner. We had super delicious spaghetti made with whole wheat angel hair pasta and ground turkey. I don't think that I'll be doing much cooking here simply because it gets wayyyy too frigging hot. Ended last night with some Wii bowling and golf.
On to today (totally approximating on calories)
Food
B - oatmeal - 150
L - chicken ceasar salad and 1 small slice of bacon pizza -460
Snack - pecan pie flavored Lara bar - 200
Dinner - Amy's organic mexican casserole - 470, 2/3 serving Ghirardelli dark choc.w/raspberry filling - 139
Snack - cup and a half or so of strawberry and pineapple - 50
Exericse
just another day of lolling around in the pool. I did print out several exercise things you can do at home in hopes of incorporating some tomorrow
I royally effed up on my math final review test and if I don't miraculously do better on my final on Wednesday then I'm most assuredly going to lose my B in that class. This sucks. My chest is hurting and whilst I initially thought the worst I think it's just muscles that I haven't used forever in swimming. I alluded to something regarding a bathing suit in my post title and here's why. I have not worn a bathing suit sans shorts or something in public since I was about 12. Now, I wouldn't call a private pool surrounded by a privacy fence public really but I'm telling you, even braving wearing it in front of my kids and husband is a definite step. Now, I don't forsee me doing this in public but it's a step right? Riiiight? Oy.
I have 15 lbs to go until I reach my initial goal and my loss, even with the adding frigging exercise, has slowed to a halt. I'm so irritated. If I don't see a loss by next week I'm going to have to reevaluate my calorie cycling and calorie limits. Frustrating.

Damn scale
Food for today
B - McD's english mcmuffin and hashbrown, no clue on cals and not going to bother to look it up
L - roast beef sandwich
Snack - Lara bar pecan pie flavored
D - Zaxby's blacked blue chicken salad
Snack - 1/3 serving dark chocolate with raspberry filling
I am so sick of eating fast food, going to get the kitchen in some semblace of order today
Exercise - not much if at all today I swam but had baby with me so it was mostly hanging out with him. I did get a few laps in and kicked around quite a bit pulling his floaty. I hope to get some more formal exercise in tomorrow whether it's a walk or weights or something.
So, the tally this week is unexpected move, car broke down that same evening (think I forgot to mention, thank goodness turned out to be an easy fix) and now today a part of one of my frigging teeth broke out. Well, actually several small parts. What the hell?! The only cavity that I've ever had was a pinhole cavity in my teens. In looking at the pieces that liberated themselves it was definitely a cavity. Shit. Thankfully it didn't and doesn't hurt but I do have a dentist appt. on Monday. I have a confession, haven't been to the dentist since that cavity at around age 14. i know, I know but life has gotten in the way and like I said I've never had any issues. I'm hoping that as things come in threes that this is the last bad thing for a while. As I said in the beginning I took kids to the dr. today. Poor boo-boos. My 1 yr old had to get 4 shots and my 12 yr old had to get his 2 7th grade shots. None of my kids have ever cried when getting shots but babe ended up screaming. He was already a grumpy gus so I suppose that threw him over the edge. I have a photo shoot tomorrow, first one in a while and I'll be using a new camera. I picked it up today and am excited for the shoot tomorrow. It's a childhood friend and her family so the added bonus is that I get to see her :) No great plans for the weekend. Still more settling in and I think we're bbq'ing with my sister in law and her husband who are living next door to us and will hang out by the pool. I could definitely get used to this pool thing.
I've been neglectful in adding pics this week so for completely gratuitous picture sharing~

Mooooooooving
We have moved, my family that is. It was kind of a last minute thing and the mostest wonderful part is that we didn't have any where to move to. Things went whacky with the house we were renting. Were we either a smaller family or were not opposed to spending butt loads of money on rent, finding a new home wouldn't be so awful. However, with 5 kids and a limited budget, it ain't that easy. We are currently in a studio apt. until we find something. Thankfully my sister in laws in laws (make sense?) had a studio apt. for rent for super cheap that we have access to. So, in an 8 or so hour span yesterday we moved a 4000 square foot house into a studio apt. and a storage place. Good god. We have to find a new house post haste. Anyway, I cannot find my scale. I actually have two that I use, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. I don't know which one is right. My digital scale usually weighs me at at around 4 lbs heavier than the older type. I go by the digital one just to be on the safe side but can't find the danged thing. I weighed on the other one today and it says up 5 lbs. Grrrr. I know that I busted my butt yesterday, up and down stairs, lifting heavy things, etc not to mention my working out on Sun. and 30 day shred Mon. and Tues. I did however eat like total poo yesterday and only drank about 16oz of water. I'm hoping that it was the sodium/cal/fat overload yesterday, swollen muscles and no water combo. Hoping to get back on the downward trend in the next few days.
Anyway on to today
Food -
B - fast food hell, not even going to bother to elaborate (cals off the charts)
L - McD's southwest grilled chicken salad, didn't eat the whole thing(cals 378)
D - Subway club (320 cals) jalapeno chips (200 cals), 1 serving Ghirardelli chocolate (210 cals)
(in case it isn't obvious, the kitchen is a mess, no microwave, no clue where half my utensils are)
Exercise
Obviously, or maybe not, yesterday I didn't get any 30 day shredding done, nor did I today
We've gone from brighthouse cable with free exercise on demand to Direct Tv and I have no clue if it's on there, I'm thinking no
I did however swim for 30 minutes today
I'm so proud of me :), 5 days straight of exercising. If I can't find exercise tv on Direct TV I'll go buy the 30ds dvd tomorrow.
I'm pooped.
the end.

The Drive-in
Bad
~ the bathrooms. I'm guessing that they're likely as old as the drive in itself.
~ smoking. It's outdoors so not restricted and it's fairly gross to have the smell of cigarette smoke waft into your car
Good
~ people watching at it's finest
~ cheap to get in, mine is 4 dollars per person 10 and up, 1 dollar per person 4-9. Seriously, where else can you see a movie that cheap. You get the added bonus of watching the 2nd feature for no added cost.
~ good, greasy drive in food and no where near as expensive as the indoor theatres
~ and lastly, and maybe most importantly for me, you don't have to worry about the kids sitting still and being perfectly quiet and I can take babe without worrying about him disturbing others
~ we met up with some friends there and got to chat until the movie started while the kids played and got to talk during the movie as well
On Saturday we saw G Force for the kids and The Proposal for us. The downside of watching G Force at the drive in is that we couldn't see it in 3D. It was mildly entertaining but I think would have been much more so in 3D. The kids liked it but weren't over the moon about it. The Proposal was the 2nd feature and was rated PG-13 so we felt that the kids would be okay. Babe fell asleep during G Force and my 6 and 7 yr olds feel asleep a few minutes into the 2nd movie. The only one still awake (12 yr old son was at grandma's) was my very soon to be 14 yr old daughter. It was hilarious, the quintessential romantic comedy. Ryan Reynolds is utterly dreamy and I adore Sandra Bullock. I totally recommend this movie.
Here's a site dedicated to keep the drive in alive, check it out to see if there's one near you Drive-In Theater, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Jumping Jacks: thou art my nemesis
On to today's food ;)
B - medium banana (105 cals) on 2 slices light Nature's Own whole wheat (80 cals for both) and a smear of peanut butter (100 cals). I have to expand on this a bit. I major big puffy heart peanut butter, but the combo of peanut butter and banana is crazy good. So yummy food that also happens to be a fruit, good source of potassium, fat, protein and grains all balled up into one sandwich that was only 285 calories is a winner for me.
L - Thai Kitchen pad thai noodles (390 cals) with 1/2 egg (36 cals)scrambled in. The box is 2 servings so the other half of the egg and the remainder of the noodles is put away for tomorrow. I typically add some onion and either shrimp or tofu to this but since I was out of shrimp and tofu and too lazy to cut up onion it was a simple meal, full of carbs and sodium but oh well. I also had 1 serving (1/2 cup) of Ben and Jerry's cherry garcia frozen yogurt (160 cals). I typically don't eat a dessert type food at lunch lately but today I was folding laundry and felt like snacking on something sweet and chocolatey.
Snack - my love, Lara bar apple pie flavored (180 cals). Cashew cookie is my fave but the grocery was out so I got some different flavors.
Dinner - Michelina's swedish meatballs (360 cals). Now I do tend to eat a lot of frozen dinners at night. It's just easier for the most part with my work hours and ease of preparing. I love frozen dinner swedish meatballs. I tried to make them homemade one time and it just wasn't the same. I'm all for the deliciousness of homemade food over frozen but not this time. Brought leftover Glory canned collard greens from Sunday and intended to only eat a cup or so but couldn't resist eating the whole danged bit. I had maybe a bit over 2 cups but to be on the safe side will say 3 (105 cals). Also had 2/3 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry filling (139 cals)
Snack - I will likely eat some colby cheese cubes for a snack and if I do it will be around 55 cals which is 1/2 serving
Total cals for the day if I calculated correctly, or if Fitday calculated correctly, 1704. I calorie cycle and my calorie goal for the day is 1876. I don't know if I've mentioned or not but I use Fitday.com to log calories and love it!
On to exercise~ Did Level 1 Day 2 of 30 day shred and while I survived it I am still sore from head, well neck, to toes, literally. I reference the jumping jacks in my post title because well, I suck at them. I am not able to get through all of them in this sequence but hope to be able to by the end of the 10 days. Further, I look forward to the day, if it ever arrives, that as I said in yesterday's post my arse and thighs jump in concert with me rather than independently of me. That being said, I've never been good at jumping jacks. I think they take some semblance of coordination which I lack and combine that with my being totally and utterly out of shape, doesn't make a good combo.
I.need.to.step.away.from.the.Pampered.Chef.catalogue. It is currently sitting here staring at me enticing me with it's sultry bowls, delectable utensils, curvacious pizza stones and sizzling cookware. I have never bought anything from it because one, I've never been to a party but two, it's danged expensive. The lady in my office who is hosting the party just told me that she's not doing it until end of September/beginning October so I have a few months to save up, seriously. We had a luncheon at work last week and one of the males that I work with brought in this awesome bowl that I'll add a pic of below (have yet to figure out how to insert pics in between text). I love the lid on it. He said if you put a salad in it a week later it's still just as crisp. I need this set. Need it. If I had the funds I could easily spend hundreds of dollars. Damn the lack of money. This has been an extremely long post so I'll end it now and maybe entice you as well into the devilicious catalogue.

Major wedgie
Sunday was 2 egg whites and 2 slices turkey bacon on a flour tortilla for breakfast, cheese sandwich on wheat and ramen noodles for lunch and chicken and dumplings and collard greens for dinner as well as some fruit. I still had some calories leftover so I had some tres delicious Ben and Jerry's cherry garcia froyo.
Recall that I commited to exercise this weekend? Well, I did! I walked for 30 minutes then came home and did a 15 min. workout for the booty found in this month's issue of Fitness Magazine (http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/butt/exercises/15-minute-butt-workout/and then another 30 with my weights and resistance bands. Now, the title of my post? Since losing weight whilst I've bought new pants and shirts I have not bought any new undergarments. Loose undergarments = tendency to ride. Walking in said undergarments = collosal wedgie that I suffered through for about 25 of the 30 minutes of walking. There was no sly way to dig said wedgie out and no way in hell I was going to just go for it. I suppose it helped me walk a tad faster thinking A. the quicker I get home the quicker I can remove the encumbrance and B. "good god can people driving by see this awful wad of material between me large arse cheeks?". Because I know you're all dying with curiosity, yes, it was removed successfully and without incident upon my arrival at home.
On to today~
B - 2 pancakes with sugar free syrup and 2 slices turkey bacon
L - Half a container of Campbell's light italian veggie soup and cup and a half or so of shrimp over a bed of spinach with tomato, onion and avocado
Snack - ginger snap Lara bar
D - Michelina's tortellini alfredo with broccoli, 2/3 serving dark chocolate
Snack - strawberries
Anddddddd a new section that you used to be able to find on my old blog, drum roll please.........
Exercise - day 1 level1 of Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. Now, it supposedly says that you can lose up to 20 lbs in 30 days. I however, know there's no way in hell I'll lose that much. I do hope to kick the loss up a notch and drop some inches. We shall see. I did fairly well, had to take a break during some of the jumping jacks otherwise I was hanging. Side note: how disgusting is it to feel the lard on your ass and thighs jump independently of the rest of your body? pretty damn disgusting. Hopefully this workout will aid in alleviating that issue. http://jillianmichaels.shop.sportstoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=14308_14361&pc=JIAM13
Tomorrow is school, keep on keeping on with eating and day 2 level 1 of 30ds (that's what all of the cool people refer to it as ;) )
Oh, forgot to mention the movies that we saw on Saturday. We went for the kids to see Gforce of whatever it's called. It was okay. At the drive-in 3D wasn't an option and I'm thinking it would have been slightly more entertaining had it been in 3D. The 2nd movie was The Proposal. We debated about staying but I'm so glad that we did. Super funny and just a good romantic comedy, give it 3.5 stars.

Friday!!
Didn't blog in the last day or two, combo of no time, tired and pissed :)
Today~
Food
B - nada
L - smoothie comprised of banana, fruit salad (made by sil), spinach and low fat vanilla yogurt. Super crazy yummmm. I even convinced my 12 yr old veggie/fruit hater to drink some
Snack - wheat thins, laughing cow cheese
D - Subway sweet onion teriyaki chicken sandwich, 1 serving dark chocolate
Snack - popcorn
I neeeeeeeeed to get off of my ass and exercise. I was doing so well for months and then tiredness and lack of time caught up. I commit to exercise at least once this weekend, whether it's walking, yoga or whatever. Something.
I decided today that I either wanted to go to NYC of DC in February with husband and kids and did some research tonight. It is way cheaper to do DC and the kids seem more interested in that any way so DC it is. I'm already so excited! I went as a teen but don't remember a heck of a lot for some reason so I'm looking forward to going again and experiencing it with my kids. It really is cool how pretty much everything, museums, monuments and such, that we plan to do is free, free, free. I read that you can get with your representative to get a tour of the White House so I am so doing that. To tour the White House alone is cool but a president in office (yes I'm aware that I won't see him) that I truly admire and totally rooted for in office while I'm there makes it extra cool.
Looking forward to no big plans this weekend. My 6 yr old has been invited to a party at Chuck E. Cheese (blech) but other than that, nada. And that is so a perfect weekend for me :)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The dress and my new love
B - 2 egg whites with colby on 1 slice wheat, banana
L - blacked chicken on 1 corn tortilla with pico de gallo and avocado and Campbells light italian veggie soup
Snack - 1 wedge laughing cow cheese with redued fat ritz-like crackers (blech, I need to restock on triscuits and kashi crackers)
D - Zaxby's blacked blue salad, I could seriously eat this daily but it's a bit high in cals and it's 7 bucks a pop which is a bit expensive for me to do daily
Snack - fruit salad, 1 serving dark chocolate
I bought my daughter a dress from Limited Too that *I* loved and she mildly liked for a dance in 6th grade. She put it out at the garage sale this weekend and I told her, kinda jokingly, that if it didn't sell I was going to wear it. I have it on right now! It's a girl's size 12, that's right a kid's size 12 :) The only issue with this dress is that it's also my for a 12 yr old girl's boobs. I have to wear a cardigan with it or I'm boobs mcgee and exposing majorly, not so fitting for work. I also tried on another dress today that I bought a couple of months ago. I haven't in the last month or so but occasionally I check out the local Goodwill and get some fairly good deals. Well I found a BCBG Max Azria dress for 8 bucks!! It is size 6 and so cute. It fit when I got it meaning I could get it on but now it really fits. You see with me I'm currently in a size 12 pants but I'm always able to wear smaller dresses. I can't wait for an occassion to wear the BCBG dress. Onto my new love ~ Anthony Bourdain. I love his show, his punk attitude and after looking a pics of him tonight I have a major crush ;) I'll have to add him to my refrigerator along with my pic of soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Tis all for now!

Reflections and my arse, somewhat related
B - McD's bacon egg and cheese biscuit and hashbrown
L/snack - Lara bar
D - Tropical smoothie ginger chicken salad and raspberry banana smoothie. Salad was super crazy good and while the smoothie was good, just way too sweet. I managed to get half of it down.
Snack - 1/2 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate
Yes, after my diatribe about carbs yesterday I ate at McD's for breakfast. Forewarning to readers of this thread, one, I ain't perfect but two, Fridays are run around days and usually consist of at least one or two fast food/restaurant meals.
Now onto the rest of my post :)
I have a confession to make, well two. Firstly, and I'm not sure why I'm sharing this at all, but hold the presses and make this tomorrow's headline, I've realized in the past month or so that my arse isn't nearly as large as I thought. Huh? Well, I don't know if this is something new or it's always been this way but whilst I have no issues with having wide hips and rear, rotundness wise it seems almost flat. What the heck? My frigging pants are drooping in the rear. Is this what happens as I get old? Flatish boobs can't be enough? I have to have a flat arse too? I'm 32, what happens when I'm 42? What will droop then? Ugh. As for the 2nd confession, you know those trash receptacles in bathroom stalls that are attached to the wall? If you have access to one and it's a reflective metalic, run, don't walk, to it as soon as possible. It makes you look skinnier! I swear. Since I drink most of my water at work it seems like I'm in there constantly and never fail to check out my reflection before I exit. Sad? maybe. Dorky? assuredly. The slightest of mood boosters? hellz yeah.
Now as for reflections of another sort, as of today I am officially 1.5 lbs away from being a normal weight according to my bmi, not obese, not overweight, just normal. Wow. My goal weight is still at least 15 lbs past that but still, I'm so excited!
Baby Adan's birthday party is tomorrow so I've decided to not only do all the cleaning and prep but to have a last minute garage sale as several other neighbors are and the security gates will be open. I am a woman of many talents and hopefully the talent of multitasking will serve me well tomorrow. Wish me luck!
til tomorrow (or Sunday night or Monday night)...

My eats, MyPyramid.gov and Carbs
Food first, then other stuff.
B - banana
L - quesadilla made up of flour tortilla, tomato, cheese and cilantro, Campbell's light italian veggie soup
Snack - 1.5 serving reduced fat triscuit, 1 wedge laughing cow cheese
D - 2 Morning Star Farms ginger teriyaki veggie cakes, 1.5 cups baby spinach with tomato, avocado, feta cheese and salsa verde, small peach, 1 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate
Snack - cashew cookie flavored Lara bar
I'm calorie cycling and today is supposed to be an up day but I'm not going to reach the number that I should. Ah well.
I found a link to MyPyramid.govhttp://www.mypyramid.gov/ this evening and have really enjoyed looking around. There's a section to customize your nutritional needs based on age/weight/height and/or you can base it on desired calories. I'm happy to report that I pretty much eat what I'm supposed to as far as grains, veggies, fruits and meat and beans. The only area that I lack in is milk. I hate drinking milk and I go through stages of liking yogurt and am not currently in that stage. Go there and check it out!
I wanted to touch on the subject of carbohydrates. I will preface this by saying that I am so not hating on low carb eaters but this is from reading that I've done and personal experience. I've done a low carb diet (Atkins) and was successful. I lost around 50 pounds in about a 6 month time period, butttttttt, for me it just wasn't sustainable. What I love about low calorie eating is that you can have a wonderful variety. Our bodies need carbs, good carbs. What's the difference between a good carb and bad carb you ask? Well, (and this is taken from goodcarbs.orghttp://www.goodcarbs.org/) the best of the best "good carbs" are unprocessed, or close to it, foods. This ecompasses fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Your second tier of good carbs is whole grains. Bad carbs are refined and processed foods including, white breads and pastas, candies, snack foods, etcetera. Why do our bodies need carbohydrates? Simply? Carbs are fuel for our bodies and the foods that this energizer are packaged in contain tons of nutrients, fiber, vitamins, etc. that our bodies need to function properly. All this being said, I do try to keep my carbs within a certain percentage but I'm definitely not turning my nose up at them, love them! The Lara bar that I professed my love for the other day contains 23 grams. If I'm remembering correctly, the daily allowance once out of the intro part of Atkins calls for no more than 20 grams per day. But look at the Lara bar that I'm about to eat, ingredients are cashews and dates. Two wonderful sources carbohydrates but also of fat, nutrients and fiber that are also incredibly important components for our diets that I would be missing out on if I was low carbing it. All this to say, please do your research before jumping on the latest and greatest dieting crazes, quick fixes, worked for Aunt Sally's fifth cousin, etc. You only get one body; do your best to run it at optimum levels.
til tomorrow, TGIF!
Oh, oh, oh, as this is a food blog and until I get a working camera again, I leave you with a picture courtesy of my camera phone of my fave food of the moment

Happy birthday to my sweet baby boy!
On to the food ~
B - 3 small pancakes with sugar free syrup
L - 6 or so small squares of thin crust bacon pizza
D - banana/blueberry/honey/spinach smoothie that babe absolutely loved too, 1 mini cupcake
Snack - Campbell's light veggie italian soup. Though I know it's slammed with sodium, at 100 calories for the container it's packed with veggies, yummy and filling.
I'm pooped so I'm going to end it at that.
Til tomorrow and Happy Birthday my sweet Adan!

First post :)
My name is Amy and check out my about me section over to the right to find out a little more about well, me :)
As I say there, my purposes for this blog are to share the little bit of knowledge I have about healthy eating and definitely to learn a lot more. I'll be chronicling my daily bites, new foods that I try and am always willing to field questions and provide any help or encouragement that I can. Just leave a comment below the post and I'll get back with you.
That being said, on with it!
Breakfast - 2 egg whites in 1 small flour tortilla
Lunch - 1 cup shrimp sauteed in olive oil on a flour tortilla with 1 slice avocado, copious amounts of cilantro and some tomato, Campbell's light italian veggie soup
Snack - cashew cookie flavored Lara bar
Dinner - Subway oven roasted chicken sandwich with veggies and red wine vinegar, Valley Fresh steamers broccoli with cheese (3 servings!) I was totally going to eat the broccoli with some rice and a pork chop that I brought to work but just wasn't feeling it. Also had 1 serving Ghirardelli dark chocolate with raspberry squares.
Snack - small peach, maybe some popcorn
Lara bar, Lara bar, oh how I love thee. If you haven't tried these yet, run (at a respectable pace of course), don't walk to your nearest store that carries them. They are the bees knees as far as totally raw, natural foods and at around 200 calories a pop make a marvelous, nutritious snack.
Check them out! http://www.larabar.com/food/about-larabar
As stated above in my daily bites, I had planned to eat a pork chop, rice and broccoli for dinner. However, I just didn't have the yearning to eat the pork chop and rice once dinner time rolled around. And that's okay. In our efforts to eat healthier, lose weight, maintain weight, etcetera, planning your meals is really key but it's equally important to allow ourselves to stray from the plan of the day. Note, I didn't run out and get a burger and fries but got a healthy, satisfying sandwich and still ate my broccoli. Listen to your body. If you are beginning your journey you may not trust yourself and that's fine. You and your body are on this journey together, learning and reprogramming yourselves. You will come over time to accept that things will vary, that you will stray but the key in this is to trust yourself and know that regardless, you can step right back into line and be essentially none worse for the wear.
